When You Would Make This:
Picture this: a chilly afternoon, maybe a lazy Sunday, or those days when time seems to stand still between the holidays. This hot chocolate is the remedy for the winter blues and an ideal treat to cozy up with your loved ones.

- 1 cup whole milk (250ml): Adds creaminess and a rich base to the hot chocolate.
- 1/2 cup whipping cream (120ml): Elevates the richness and luxurious texture of your hot chocolate
- 1 bar of semi-sweet chocolate (100g): I like semi-sweet chocolate best. But use, whichever good chocolate you like. (Tip: Opt for a chocolate bar for easier melting)
- 1 cinnamon stick: Infuses a subtle warmth
Pro Tip: Look for these ingredients at your local grocery store. High quality chocolate makes a significant difference, so don’t skimp on that!

2. Serve It Up: Pour into your favorite mug and relish the super creamy hot chocolate magic!
How to Serve and/or Pairings:
Sip it solo or pair with a plate of warm cookies for the ultimate treat. This hot chocolate is a splendid companion to a cozy evening by the fireplace.
Storage Instructions:
But who are we kidding? This will be gone in minutes! However, if you manage to resist, store any leftovers in the fridge. Reheat gently on the stove for a second round of delight.
Common Substitutions:
No cinnamon stick? Ground cinnamon works, but adjust to taste. Swap dark chocolate for milk chocolate if you prefer a sweeter version.
Variations:
Get creative! Add a dash of vanilla extract or even peppermint extract for a festive twist. You can also top it with whipped cream and add some chocolate shavings. And you can even add some Baileys or your favorite Booze that for a more grown-up kind of treat. It is worth mentioning this kind of creamy hot chocolate is popular in Brazil and not just at the Kopenhagen store. Some people enjoy adding sweet condensed milk or even a little dash of cornstarch mixed with your milk to make it even more creamy. Those are all variations and you can of course experiment to find out what you like best. I have to say I like my version the best. It’s not too sweet and is the perfect amount of creamy.
Equipment:
A sauce pan, a stirring spoon, and your favorite mugs â that’s all you need for this chocolaty adventure.
Troubleshooting:
If your chocolate isn’t melting smoothly, try chopping it into smaller pieces for better incorporation, and just keep in mind that chocolate chip simply do not melt as easily.

And so did the kids enjoy it? They tried it but it was not a kiddie favorite. Perhaps if I hadn’t used semi-sweet chocolate and had used something sweeter instead they would have enjoyed it more. I think this is more of a grown-up thing anyway. But if your kids try it let me know if they liked it.
