This cozy drink is inspired by the incredible hot chocolate at the Kopenhagen chocolate store in Brazil! Now, if you’ve ever stepped into a Kopenhagen store, you know their hot chocolate game is next level. It’s the kind of warmth you need when stuck in the never-ending days between Christmas and New Year’s with your kids. So this holiday season, we’re bringing that decadence straight to your kitchen with this copycat recipe! This recipe yields two servings, so it’s perfect for sharing the chocolatey love. Trust me; you’ll want to savor every sip.

When You Would Make This:

Picture this: a chilly afternoon, maybe a lazy Sunday, or those days when time seems to stand still between the holidays. This hot chocolate is the remedy for the winter blues and an ideal treat to cozy up with your loved ones.

Ingredients:

ingredients
  • 1 cup whole milk (250ml): Adds creaminess and a rich base to the hot chocolate.
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream (120ml): Elevates the richness and luxurious texture of your hot chocolate
  • 1 bar of semi-sweet chocolate (100g): I like semi-sweet chocolate best. But use, whichever good chocolate you like.  (Tip: Opt for a chocolate bar for easier melting)
  • 1 cinnamon stick: Infuses a subtle warmth

Pro Tip: Look for these ingredients at your local grocery store. High quality chocolate makes a significant difference, so don’t skimp on that!

Directions:

all ingredients in sauce pan
  1. Bring milk, chopped chocolate, whipping cream and the cinnamon stick to a boil. Stir until the chocolate melts, and let it simmer.
boiling hot chocolate in saucepan

2. Serve It Up: Pour into your favorite mug and relish the super creamy hot chocolate magic!

How to Serve and/or Pairings:

Sip it solo or pair with a plate of warm cookies for the ultimate treat. This hot chocolate is a splendid companion to a cozy evening by the fireplace.

Storage Instructions:

But who are we kidding? This will be gone in minutes! However, if you manage to resist, store any leftovers in the fridge. Reheat gently on the stove for a second round of delight.

Common Substitutions:

No cinnamon stick? Ground cinnamon works, but adjust to taste. Swap dark chocolate for milk chocolate if you prefer a sweeter version.

Variations:

Get creative! Add a dash of vanilla extract or even peppermint extract for a festive twist. You can also top it with whipped cream and add some chocolate shavings. And you can even add some Baileys or your favorite Booze that for a more grown-up kind of treat. It is worth mentioning this kind of creamy hot chocolate is popular in Brazil and not just at the Kopenhagen store. Some people enjoy adding sweet condensed milk or even a little dash of cornstarch mixed with your milk to make it even more creamy. Those are all variations and you can of course experiment to find out what you like best. I have to say I like my version the best. It’s not too sweet and is the perfect amount of creamy.

Equipment:

A sauce pan, a stirring spoon, and your favorite mugs – that’s all you need for this chocolaty adventure.

Troubleshooting:

If your chocolate isn’t melting smoothly, try chopping it into smaller pieces for better incorporation, and just keep in mind that chocolate chip simply do not melt as easily.

Is it kiddie approved?

And so did the kids enjoy it? They tried it but it was not a kiddie favorite. Perhaps if I hadn’t used semi-sweet chocolate and had used something sweeter instead they would have enjoyed it more. I think this is more of a grown-up thing anyway. But if your kids try it let me know if they liked it.

FAQ:

Can I use chocolate chips?

While not ideal, chocolate chips work in a pinch. Opt for a good-quality bar for an authentic experience.

There you have it, folks – a cold-weather treat inspired by Kopenhagen’s hot chocolate. Now, whip up a batch of this luscious Brazilian Hot Chocolate recipe, and bask in the chocolatey bliss! I am sure you will never want to use hot chocolate packets ever again! Enjoy!

Brazilian Pudim 🤎 It’s funny how our taste buds c Brazilian Pudim 🤎

It’s funny how our taste buds change as we get older. This was my grandmother’s favorite dessert, and I never really understood the obsession.

And now? I’m slowly becoming obsessed with it, too.

Brazilian pudim is a silky, caramel-covered custard that looks far more impressive than the effort it requires. You make a quick caramel, pour in the custard, and let it bake gently in a water bath until it has that perfect, barely-there wobble.

The best part? It’s an excellent make-ahead dessert for a special occasion. Make it the day before, let it chill overnight, and all that’s left to do is loosen the caramel, flip it onto a plate, and admire your work.

And, ideally, try to get a slice before everyone else does. 🤎#tastyrecollections #easyrecipes #pudim #pudimdeleitecondensado #brazilianfood
🎶 Working 9 to 5… 🎶 And then coming home and real 🎶 Working 9 to 5… 🎶

And then coming home and realizing you still have to figure out what everyone is eating for dinner.

This is one of those recipes I make when I want something hearty and comforting, but absolutely do not want a complicated project.

Ground beef, potatoes, butternut squash, and a few pantry staples all go into one pot and simmer away until everything is tender.

I like using frozen butternut squash for this because wrestling with a whole squash on a Tuesday night is simply not happening.

It’s cozy, budget-friendly, and makes enough for leftovers — which means tomorrow’s dinner is already halfway figured out.

Honestly, that’s the kind of recipe I want after a 9-to-5.

I’ve been making a lot of banana things lately. T I’ve been making a lot of banana things lately.

This is partly because I like banana cake, and partly because my children have a very unpredictable relationship with bananas. Sometimes they eat them all. Sometimes they look at them as if I’ve brought home a completely unfamiliar fruit.

For this one, I make a caramel first, then add the bananas and cinnamon and let them cook for another minute. The mixture goes into the batter, and the cake gets a simple cinnamon glaze.

It’s a good cake for an afternoon coffee, or for when you have a few bananas that need a little help.

And if you have children, you may want to make two.

If you need a little help getting zucchini onto th If you need a little help getting zucchini onto the table, make these crispy zucchini fritters. 🥒

They’re cheesy, golden, crispy around the edges, and soft in the middle—and they’re one of my favorite ways to make a vegetable disappear from my kids’ plates.

The trick is getting the zucchini mixture to the right consistency. Moist, but not wet. If yours looks a little looser, just add a bit more flour. And don’t skip flattening them in the pan—it gives you even more crispy edges.

Serve them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or as an easy vegetable side dish. They’re also a pretty good option for the zucchini skeptics in your life. 😉

Are you a zucchini person, or do I need to convince you? 👇

I don’t even like bananas… and I ate this chocolat I don’t even like bananas… and I ate this chocolate banana bread for breakfast, dessert, and basically everything in between. 😂

It’s intensely chocolatey, packed with crunchy walnuts, and topped with a silky white chocolate coffee glaze. And somehow, the banana flavor stays subtle enough that even a banana skeptic like me absolutely loved it.

It’s also a great way to use up those very ripe bananas that somehow appear on your counter every few weeks. One bowl, pantry staples, no special equipment.

And yes, I ate an embarrassing amount of this one myself. 😅

Every time I find frozen passion fruit at the Brazilian grocery store, I buy a few packs because I already know one of the things I’m making: this Passion Fruit Bundt Cake.

It’s soft, incredibly fluffy, and finished with a fresh passion fruit glaze that brings me right back home.
