Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons Oyster Sauce or sub with Oyster
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin or sub Chinese cooking wine
  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce I used reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 6 teaspoons brown sugar
  • Stir Fry
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 small onion finely chopped
  • 800 g /2 lb ground beef lean or extra lean ground beef
  • 2 Bell Peppers yellow, orange or red bell peppers
  • 1/2 tsp of ground ginger you can also use fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup green onions sliced, plus more for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • Start by combining the mirin, soy sauces, oyster sauce, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Give it a good stir to ensure everything is well combined.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over high heat. Sautee the onions for two minutes. Add the garlic and saute for another minute until it starts to brown.
  • Add the beef. Break it up as it cooks. Stir occasionally to ensure even browning.
  • Add your chopped bell peppers. Once the beef turns from red to brown, it's ready for the next step.
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked beef in the skillet. Let it simmer for another two minutes.
  • Stir in the green onions if using and garnish with some sesame seeds (if using).
